George Winters

George Winters



George Winters was born August 9, 1918. Before and after World War II he lived in the small town of Lonaconing, Maryland. He worked at a Celanese Corporation textile plant, also before and after the war.

George enlisted in the U.S. Navy in early 1944. He attended gunnery school and was a gunners mate. He served briefly on the S.S. William Penn, and then on the S.S. William P. Mulholland. He received an honorable discharge in April 1946.

George Winters had four children, including Shirley, Ronnie, Edward and Gary. George was married to Glenna "Robertson" Winters for the last 47 years of his life.

George Winters died on April 21, 1995, at the age of 76.
