Sammie Noal Cleaver






Sammie Noal Cleaver lives in Georgetown, Arkansas. He served in the CCC a couple of years before he joined the US Navy. While in the Armed Guard he served on the SS Cubore, SS Marshall Elliott, SS Zebulon Vance, and the SS Robert E Peary. He was aboard the Peary when it was rammed by another ship. He was then assigned to the LST 528 where he served until the end of WWII. He reenlisted in 1947 and was assigned to the USS General George M Randall and the USS George E Davis. He was a Gunners Mate First Class when discharged the last time. Sammie was in the midst of things on D Day. He served in both the Pacific and Atlantic. He hauled both prisoners of war and families of service men. He has a lot of memories and pictures and some of them will be included here later.
