


Frank Leonard Sanders, Seaman First Class in the Navy, was assigned to the US Navy Armed Guard and performed his often hazardous duties in the manner expected by that organization. Frank died in 1996. Frank enlisted in West Virginia in September 1943 and was sent to the US Naval Training Center at Great Lakes, Illinois the same month. He was then sent to the Armed Guard Training Center, Norfolk, Virginia for gunnery training, then was assigned to the Brooklyn, New York Armed Guard Training Center in December 1943. He was assigned to the SS Sloterdyk in December 1943. In May 1944 he was assigned to the Armed Guard Training Center (Pacific) at Treasure Island, California. In January 1945 he was assigned to the SS Wild Hunter and in August 1945 to the SS Stanvac Capetown. In Novenber he was assigned to Treasure Island again and later that month was assigned to the USS Yolo (APB-43). If you knew Frank Sanders, please contact his son, Rev.
