William H. Doane



William H. Doane served honorably in the World War II Navy Armed Guard Service. Bill served first on the SS Scapa Flow from April 1942 to the day it was sunk on November 1942 and then was in a lifeboat for 17 days. He was rescued by the HMS Armerica (K-187) on 1 December 1942 and returned home on the SS Gulf Spray and SS E W Sinclair. He served on the USAT Brooklyn Heights from February 1943 to February 1944 and was assigned to the SS Brandy Station in February 1944. Mr. Doane resides in Sebring, Florida.
