William Louis Britt joined the Navy and after boot and gunnery training was assigned to the US Navy Armed Guard Service. He was assigned to the SS West Lashaway. The ship was sunk and he was lost at sea in August 1942 and declared dead in August 1943. He is listed in the Tablets of the Missing at East Coast Memorial, New York City, USA.
